Celebrate the life of Hairy Biker, Dave Myers in his home town of Barrow in Furness on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June 2025.

Barrow will become the destination of a remembrance procession made up of thousands of motorcycles who will be departing London in the morning, being joined by countless more along the route, before arriving in Barrow town centre late afternoon.  Celebrations will take place throughout the town all weekend.

Spectator Information

The route of the motorcycle procession will be via the A590 from the M6, turning left onto Park Road at entry into Barrow and proceeding to the town centre via Abbey Road. Large crowds are expected to line the streets to support the procession. If you are planning on visiting the town for this, please ensure that you remain on the pavement at all times. Traffic delays are expected, with road closures in place around the Town Hall.

How to attend the event

  • Motorcycles (arriving as part of the organised procession)
    Free parking facilities will be provided at Dova Way upon arrival by onsite marshals.  A free park and ride service is being offered from the secure parking facilities to the other event areas located throughout the town.  While on site security will be present, all bikes are parked at the owners risk.
  • Cars
    There are multiple town centre car parks operated by Westmorland and Furness Council within Barrow town centre.  Details of these can be found here: Barrow Car Parks (Please note that charges may apply)
  • Bus
    A public bus service in Barrow is Operated by Stagecoach.  Due to road closures to support the event, the nearest bus stops to the Town Hall will be at Ramsden Square.  Timetables can be found at https://www.stagecoachbus.com/
  • Train
    Northern Rail will providing additional capacity on their services to support Dave Day.  Barrow station is located only a short walk away from the Town Hall.  Tickets can be booked in advance at https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/

Motorcycle Parking:

Free parking will be provided for all motorcycles attending the event as part of the main procession.  Please follow all directions given by marshals.  Parking will be allocated on a first come first served basis.  To ensure maximum capacity is available, please ensure bikes are parked as directed, with engines turned off once in position.

Security

On site SIA registered security will be present the designated car park listed above for the duration of the event weekend.  Please note, that while security is being provided, these are publicly accessible car parks, with neither the organisers, car park owners or security providers all being unable to take any responsibility for theft, loss or damage to vehicles

Charity Concert - Town Centre

The main stage and centre point of the event on Saturday will be located at the rear of Barrow Town Hall where a charity concert will take place.  Tickets will cost £10 and are available using the link below, with revenue from the concert being split between the Dave Day charities, CancerCare and NSPCC Childline.

Concert Performers:

The concert will feature Darren Wharton’s Renegade, celebrating and reliving the classic music of Thin Lizzy. As a former member of Thin Lizzy Darren will play the songs with total passion and commitment.

Headlining is Hells Bells – Europe’s leading and longest running AC/DC tribute band. No strangers to festivals and biker events, this will be the band’s first show in Cumbria for many years and they are ready to shake the foundations of Barrow.

Three local bands, Don’t Tell Alice, The AeroBees and Sugarfoot will kick off proceedings in the afternoon.

A food court will be located near the Town Hall with a wide variety of local vendors, several who have worked with Dave on various projects.  There is also a huge variety of local eating and drinking establishments throughout Barrow town centre and the surrounding area.

Toilet facilities will be provided at the rear of the Town Hall, along with an accessible viewing area set back from the main stage.

Entrance into the concert will be from the main gate located on Market St, opposite the Holiday Inn Express.  Gates open at 4pm, with the concert finishing at 10pm.

Motorcycle Stunt Show - Town Centre

The Edge Motorbike Stunt Show features a team of riders who have completed at world championship level for many years.
The show features numerous obstacles of which the professional riders demonstrate their high level of skill, balance and technical control of their motorcycles.  15ft jumps and vertical walls, drop offs and interactive stunts will amaze and entertain the crowd. 

Food & Drink Festival - Town Centre

A local food festival located on and around Portland Walk which will see a large selection of local traders lining the street showcasing some of our best local food traders, makers and producers.

Celebrity Book Signing - Waterstones

We are honoured to welcome Lili Myers, the wife of much-loved Hairy Biker Dave Myers, who joins us to sign copies of her heart-warming and intimate memoir Dave and Me: Life With and Without My Hairy Biker.  The book looks at their special years together, from their serendipitous meeting in 2005 to his cancer diagnosis, treatment and final days.

Dave and Me is a heartfelt tribute to a remarkable man and story of love that transcends loss.

Lili joins us as part of the “Dave Day” celebrations which take place across Barrow over the weekend of June 21st-22nd. 

This event is ticketed and we expect demand for tickets to be high. Please get yours early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are priced at £22 which includes a copy of the book – RRP £22 – to be collected at the event on the day.

Getting Here

Barrow can be reached by road from the M6 motorway. Exit the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A590 signposted Barrow. Tips: Look out for the Dalton Safari Zoo as you approach Barrow.

By rail, Barrow can be accessed via the West Coast line from Carlisle or from the Furness Line from Lancaster. Visit www.northernrailway.co.uk for timetable and ticket information.
