Travel to Barrow in Furness for the OVO Energy Tour of Britain
Where is Barrow in Furness Located?
Barrow is situated in the southern tip of the Furness peninsula, on the North West Coast of England on the northern shoreline of Morecambe Bay.
It is only 20 minutes from the Lake District with outstanding scenery on both road and rail routes.
Stage 6 of the Tour of Britain will start from Barrow Town Hall, located on Duke Street in the centre of Barrow, postcode LA14 2LD.
Visiting Barrow by Road
From the M6 motorway, exit the M6 at junction 36 and continue along the A590 signposted Barrow.
Pass through the market town of Ulverston and through the village of Lindal in Furness, then take the 2 nd exit at the roundabout prior to Dalton in Furness to by-pass the town. (to the right you will see Dalton Zoo).
At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit straight-on and head down the hill.
At the next roundabout take the 1st exit along Park Road, which take you the scenic route into Barrow in Furness.
Now take the 2 nd exit and head along Abbey Road, past the Abbey House Hotel and into the town centre.
Visiting Barrow by bus
There is a daily National Express Coach service to Kendal with a link via X6 to Barrow. Stagecoach in Cumbria and other Operators operate a comprehensive bus service between local towns and the Lake District. Barrow town centre has a range of pay and display car parks which are signposted from the highways.
Look out for notifications informing you of FREE parking in car parks or on-street during the Tour of Britain event.
